Directorate vide Memo No. 1-01/2009-WL/Sports (Vol-II) dated 19th March 2013 has taken decision to pay the scholarship amount to the following education schemes. The rate of scholarship amount to be paid to each education scheme is noted against them.

Commemorative postage stamp released on "At Home' on the occasion of 75th Anniversary of the Quit India Movement at Delhi on 9-8-2017


The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind releasing a set of 8 Commemorative Postage Stamps, at the ‘At Home’ reception for Freedom Fighters, hosted by him, on the occasion of 75th Anniversary of the Quit India Movement, at Rashtrapati Bhavan, in New Delhi on August 09, 2017. The Vice President, Shri M. Hamid Ansari, the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi and the Minister of State for Communications (Independent Charge) and Railways, Shri Manoj Sinha and our Secretary (Posts) Shri A. N. Nanda also seen in the picture.

On the occasion, the President honoured and felicitated 93 freedom fighters from across the country in the presence of the Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari; Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi; Union Minister for Home Affairs Shri Rajnath Singh and other dignitaries.

Each of the freedom fighters was gifted an electric kettle with a personal message from the President.  In his message, the President said “I extend warm greetings to you on the 75th Anniversary of the Quit India Movement.  The nation is proud of our freedom fighters and salutes them.  This small token is our people’s appreciation of your successful struggle against colonialism.  I wish you happiness, good health and a long life." 

On the occasion, the President also released a set of 8 Commemorative Postage Stamps on 75 years of 1942 Freedom Struggle.

As a part of simplification of procedures, the Central Government had issued advisories to all States / UTs to do away with the requirement of taking affidavits for executive level jobs and for allowing self certification of certificates in a phased manner. Action in this regard is to be taken by States/ UTs. Further, as per the Central Secretariat Manual of Office Procedure (CSMOP), notification is mostly used for notifying the promulgation of statutory rules.

This was stated by the Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Dr. Jitendra Singh in written reply to a question by Shri Anubhav Mohanty in the Rajya Sabha today.

181 New Post Offices will be opened in this fiscal-Manoj Sinha : PIB Report

The Government has planned to open 81 Sub-Post Offices and 100 Branch Post Offices during the current financial year 2017-18 under the Scheme – “Rural Business & Access to Postal Network”. Minister of Communications Shri Manoj Sinha said in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today that the Department of Posts has also planned to open 66 Branch Post Offices by creation of new posts in 32 worst affected Left Wing Extremism (LWE) districts in the country under the aforesaid scheme in the current financial year. 

Shri Sinha informed that out of 25,350 post offices in the States of the Country, 25,348 are computerised. He said that the Department of Posts takes action, from time to time, to induct technology and upgrade the system to cater to the growing market requirements and to increase revenue earnings. The Minister said that the increase or revision of rates of postal products and services is an ongoing exercise carried out from time to time and that there is no proposal to increase the rates of premium Business Development products at present...PIB

Clarification in respect of encashment of Earned Leave to reemployed pensioners - Reg.

7th CPC : Payment on account of discontinued allowances – Finmin Order

OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject:- Payment on account of discontinued allowances – regarding.

The undersigned is directed to inform that the recommendations of the 7th CPC on allowances have been accepted by the Government with 34 modifications.

2. In this regard, attention is drawn to Para 8.2.5 of the Report of the 7th CPC wherein it has been mentioned that any allowance, not mentioned in the Report (and hence not reported to the Commission), shall cease to exist immediately. In case there is any demand or requirement for continuation of an existing allowance which has not been deliberated upon or covered in this report, it should be re-notified. by the Ministry concerned after obtaining due approval of Ministry of Finance and should be put in the public domain.

3. As the recommendations of the 7th CPC on allowances have come into effect from 1st July, 2017, disbursement of all existing allowances which have not been specifically recommended for continuation in terms of the Resolution dated 6th July, 2017 shall be discontinued from the salary of the month of July, 2017.

4. In view of the nature of the Allowances specific to Ministry of External Affairs, these allowances were not covered by the 7th Central Pay Commission, Hence this order will not be applicable to allowances specific to Ministry of External Affairs.

5. It shall be the responsibility of the Heads of the Department to ensure that no bills relating to disbursement in respect of such allowances is drawn by the Head of Office/Drawing Disbursing Officers under their purview/jurisdiction. Pay and Accounts Officers shall ensure that no payment is effected if any such bill relating to the disbursement of the discontinued allowances is submitted to them. If such bills are received, they should be returned to the DDO and intimation thereof shall also be given to the Head of the Department and the Chief Controller of Accounts.
